No. Cataract surgery is performed with numbing eye drops and light sedation, so you remain comfortable and relaxed throughout. Most patients describe only mild pressure — never sharp pain — and the procedure itself takes about 15 minutes per eye.
The LASIK procedure itself takes roughly 10 minutes per eye, and you are in the office for about 90 minutes from check-in to discharge. Most patients notice clearer vision within a few hours and return to normal activities the next morning.
Yes. Because you will receive light sedation and your vision will be temporarily blurred, you must arrange for a family member, friend, or car service to drive you home. Our coordinators are happy to help you plan transportation in advance.
Most cataract and LASIK patients return to desk work within 1–2 days. Physically demanding jobs, swimming, and heavy lifting are typically restricted for one to two weeks. Your surgeon will give you a personalized timeline at your post-operative visit.
Initial healing takes about a week, and vision continues to sharpen over the following four to six weeks as the eye fully stabilizes. You will be seen the day after surgery, at one week, and at one month to confirm everything is healing as expected.
Yes. Medicare covers standard cataract surgery, the standard intraocular lens, and the facility fee at our Medicare-approved surgical center. Premium lens upgrades (toric or multifocal) carry an out-of-pocket cost, which our team will review with you in advance — no surprises.
Most procedures are performed under light sedation with topical anesthesia. You are comfortable, relaxed, and monitored by a board-certified anesthesiologist throughout — awake enough to follow simple instructions, but never aware of discomfort.
